Where to Watch the Alien Movies: Every Film, Runtime and US Option in One Table

By StarCelebia Editorial Team Updated Streaming last checked:

Short answer

As of October 30, 2026, Google Play's US store rents and sells all nine Alien films (Aliens only as the Special Edition), with rentals from $3.99, and Apple TV's US site lists all nine. We could not confirm any Alien film on Hulu or another subscription service today.

The Alien franchise now covers nine feature films and one TV series. In the US, the reliable way to watch any of them today is to rent or buy. We checked the US store pages on October 30, 2026, and put every result in one table with release dates and runtimes, along with what Hulu’s own schedules say about the films’ past arrivals.

Where to watch every Alien movie in the US

This is the full list in release order. US release dates come from each film’s Rotten Tomatoes page, except Alien vs. Predator, which uses the Los Angeles and New York opening date in the AFI Catalog. Runtimes are the BBFC’s timings of the original cinema versions, rounded to the nearest minute. Google Play prices are what each film’s US page showed on October 30, 2026.

Apple TV’s US web pages list each film but do not show prices, so check the Apple TV app for the current rent and buy price. Prices change often on both stores, and both run frequent sales.

Is Alien streaming on Hulu?

We could not confirm it. Hulu’s title pages redirected us to an “unavailable” page, so we could not check any Alien film’s Hulu listing on October 30, 2026. Hulu’s official press schedules record when titles were due to arrive or leave, but a past arrival date does not show that a film is still on the service.

Hulu history, from those press schedules:

Several films show up as arriving more than once, which means they left in between, and not every exit appears in these schedules. Search for the film in the Hulu app before you plan a marathon.

We could not confirm any Alien film on Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max or Prime Video from those services’ own pages, so we are not listing them.

Can you buy all the Alien movies at once?

Yes, in bundles. Google Play’s Alien 6-Film Collection costs $43.99 in HD and contains Prometheus, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and Alien: Covenant. It does not include Romulus. Google Play also sells an Alien: 4 Movie Collection for $39.99 in HD.

Apple TV’s film pages list an Alien 4-Movie Collection, an Alien 6-Film Collection, an Alien 7-Film Collection, an Alien 2-Movie Collection that appears on both the Alien and Romulus pages, and a Prometheus / Alien: Covenant Bundle. The two crossover films share an Alien vs. Predator 2 Movie Collection. Bundle prices aren’t shown on the web, so check them in the Apple TV app.

At the single-film prices Google Play showed on October 30, 2026, buying those six films one at a time would cost $99.94, so the 6-film set is the cheaper route if you want all of them. Prices change often, so compare both before you pay.

Why is Aliens listed as a Special Edition on Google Play?

The only Aliens title we found in the US Google Play store is the Special Edition, which the store lists at 154 minutes. That is a longer cut, about 17 minutes more than the 137-minute cinema version the BBFC timed in 1986. Apple TV’s Aliens page lists a run time of 2 hr 11 min, so it is not the Special Edition. If you specifically want the shorter theatrical cut, check the Apple TV listing.

Google Play also sells Alien: The Director’s Cut, at $3.99 to rent or $14.99 to buy in HD, alongside the theatrical Alien.

Where to watch Alien: Earth

Alien: Earth is the franchise’s first TV series. Noah Hawley created it for FX. Hulu’s August 2025 press schedule listed the two-episode series premiere on Hulu on August 12, 2025. TheWrap reported that it aired on FX and streamed on Hulu at the same time, with Disney+ carrying it outside the US.

Season Premiere (US) Episodes Where it premiered Where to watch now (US)
Season 1 Aug 12, 2025 8 FX and Hulu Not confirmed — check Hulu
Season 2 Not announced Not announced FX (renewed Nov 2025) Not applicable

Last checked: October 30, 2026

The Apple TV page for Alien: Earth lists season 1 episodes but showed no purchase option, and we found no Google Play US listing. We could not open Hulu’s series page from our location, so we can’t confirm where the show streams today.

The six episodes Apple lists run between 54 minutes and 1 hour 4 minutes each. On October 30, 2026, that Apple TV page also displayed a Hulu logo. That is only what Apple shows, not a listing we could confirm on Hulu itself, so treat it as a place to search.

Alien movies in story order

Prometheus and Alien: Covenant are prequels, Alien: Earth fills the gap just before the 1979 film, and Romulus sits between Alien and Aliens. The in-universe years below come from Rotten Tomatoes’ chronological guide, and the Alien: Earth year also matches the official logline quoted by Variety.

Story order Title Set in Runtime (min)
1 Alien vs. Predator (optional) 2004 101
2 Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (optional) 2004 94
3 Prometheus 2089 124
4 Alien: Covenant 2104 122
5 Alien: Earth, season 1 (TV) 2120 8 episodes
6 Alien 2122 117
7 Alien: Romulus 2142 119
8 Aliens 2179 137
9 Alien 3 Right after Aliens 115
10 Alien Resurrection 2379 109

Should you watch in release order or story order?

Release order is the better first watch. Prometheus and Covenant were made decades after Alien and assume you already know the 1979 film, so watching them first changes how the original plays.

Story order works well on a rewatch. It lays the timeline out cleanly, from the prequel duo in the 2090s and 2100s to Alien Resurrection two centuries later.

Where do the Alien vs. Predator films fit?

Rotten Tomatoes groups both crossover films as 2004-set stories, which makes them the earliest entries on the timeline. Its guide treats them as a brief interruption in the long gap between Alien Resurrection and Ridley Scott’s prequels. They are optional, and the main films don’t depend on them.

What is the shortest way to catch up?

If you only have one evening and want to be ready for whatever comes next, watch Alien, Aliens and Alien: Romulus. That is 373 minutes, or about 6 hours 13 minutes. Romulus is set between the first two films, so it slots in naturally. Add Prometheus and Alien: Covenant (246 minutes together) if you want the backstory that the newly reported Guzikowski project is said to build on.

How long is an Alien marathon?

Using the BBFC cinema timings:

Plan Titles Screen time
The seven main films Alien through Alien: Romulus 843 min (14 hr 3 min)
Main films plus both crossovers All nine films 1,038 min (17 hr 18 min)
The original four Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection 478 min (7 hr 58 min)
Catch-up path Alien, Aliens, Alien: Romulus 373 min (6 hr 13 min)

A full nine-film run is a two-day project. A practical split is the original four on day one, and the prequels plus Romulus on day two (365 minutes). Add the crossover films only if you have the time.

Why do runtimes differ between sites?

Older films often exist in several cuts: Alien has a Director’s Cut, and Aliens has the Special Edition. Cinema and home-video timings also differ. The BBFC timed Alien at 116.6 minutes for its 1979 cinema release but about 112 minutes for its 2019 home-entertainment submission. Stores also round differently: Google Play lists Romulus at 118 minutes. We used the BBFC cinema timings in every table.

Is there a new Alien movie coming?

Two film projects are in development, but neither has a release date as of October 30, 2026.

Project Status as of October 30, 2026 Key names
Alien: Romulus sequel Script finished, no director announced, no date. THR says it “remains in limbo.” Fede Alvarez and Ridley Scott (producers)
New Alien film (untitled) In development at 20th Century Studios. No director or date. Not a Romulus sequel. Aaron Guzikowski (writer); Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss (producers)
Alien: Earth season 2 Renewed November 2025. Production reported for London in 2026. No premiere date. Noah Hawley (creator)

On September 5, 2025, Variety reported that Alvarez would not direct the Romulus sequel. He said the script was finished and that he would produce with Scott while they looked for a new director.

On October 23, 2026, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Guzikowski, who wrote Prisoners and created Raised by Wolves, is writing a new Alien feature for 20th Century Studios. According to THR’s sources, the project ties back to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant through the android played by Michael Fassbender. That android is David, as the Apple TV synopsis for Covenant describes him. THR added that Fassbender is not attached.

For the series, Variety reported the season 2 renewal on November 11, 2025, along with Hawley’s new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, and said production would begin in London in 2026. In April 2026, Hawley told Deadline that the shoot at Pinewood Studios would start that summer and that he would not direct this season. Deadline also reported that Peter Dinklage has a role in season 2. We will add dates here once FX or 20th Century Studios announces them.

How we checked

We opened every page linked in the tables on October 30, 2026.

  • Rent and buy: We checked each film’s US page on Google Play (play.google.com, with the US store setting) and recorded the prices shown there. We also opened each US title page on Apple TV (tv.apple.com/us). Those pages confirm each listing but show no prices, so we don’t quote Apple prices.
  • Subscription streaming: We tried to open Hulu title pages on hulu.com, but each one we tried redirected to an “unavailable in your region” page. Instead, we read Hulu’s official monthly press schedules at press.hulu.com from January 2024 through November 2026 (the February 2026 page did not load). These list titles due to arrive on or leave Hulu, so we use them only as history, not as proof of what is streaming today. We could not confirm any Alien film on Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max or Prime Video from those services’ own pages, so we make no claims about those services.
  • Runtimes: We used the BBFC’s timings of each film’s original cinema submission, rounded to the nearest minute.
  • Release dates: US theatrical dates come from Rotten Tomatoes. The Alien vs. Predator date comes from the AFI Catalog.

If you see a different result in your app, the service’s own listing is the one to trust, because licensing deals can change overnight.

Questions people ask

Is Alien: Romulus on Hulu?

We could not confirm it. Hulu's May 2026 press schedule listed Alien: Romulus as arriving on May 21, 2026, but an arrival date does not show whether a film is still there, and Hulu's title page would not open from our location. Search for it in the Hulu app.

Which Alien movie should I watch first?

Start with Alien (1979). Every later film either follows on from it or sets up its events, and the prequels Prometheus and Alien: Covenant work best once you know what they are building toward.

Do I have to watch the Alien vs. Predator movies?

No. The two crossover films are spin-offs set on Earth in the early 2000s, and you can follow every main Alien film without them. Treat them as extras for fans of both franchises.

Is there going to be an Alien: Romulus 2?

A sequel script exists, but no director or release date has been announced. Fede Alvarez said in September 2025 that he would produce rather than direct, and The Hollywood Reporter described the sequel as still in limbo on October 23, 2026.

When does Alien: Earth season 2 come out?

No premiere date has been announced. FX renewed the series in November 2025, and Noah Hawley told Deadline in April 2026 that filming in London would begin that summer.
